MLK Day - Opportunity
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 10:34AM There were no Republicans in the recent Labor Day Parade I attended. Opportunity lost.
Lets join the parade: Martin Luther King was a lifelong Republican, he would want you in the parade.
The next Martin Luther King Day is on Monday January 19th 2009.
Idea for banner:

National Black Republican Association writes that it is understandable why Dr. King was a Republican. What have Republicans done?
- Republicans who fought to free blacks from slavery and amended the Constitution to grant blacks freedom (13th Amendment), citizenship (14th Amendment) and the right to vote (15th Amendment)
- Republicans passed the civil rights laws of the 1860's, including the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Reconstruction Act of 1867.
- Republicans also started the NAACP and affirmative action with Republican President Richard Nixon‘s 1969 Philadelphia Plan (crafted by black Republican Art Fletcher) that set the nation‘s first goals and timetables.
Great men, we should honor them.
I would like you to consider taking part in a local parade. If you need help contact a local GOP office, they may be surprised but they should be able to help you. a local GOP office should be able to help you.
What you need for a parade:
- At least 5 adults in the parade, bring the children and dogs.
- Parade people - find out what it takes to get in the parade.
- Signs, banners, see idea above or design your own, or carry signs do what you want
- Buy a bunch of candy.
- Get in the parade line and take your walk, throw the candy, wear your T-Shirt (weather permitting) and make sure the children and pets are appropriately dressed. Children love to be in parades.
- Smile - Have fun, throw candy, wave - it is a parade.
- Show up, We need Republicans and Conservatives to be part of Martin Luther King day parades.
Kings "I Have A Dream" ended with this phrase..."Free at last! free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" If only he knew. As our government are turning all of us into slaves.
We are not going to change peoples minds overnight, but we can start loosening them up.
This location has MLK specific T-Shirts
